Flexible, but typicall 9:45-12:00 and 2:30-5:00. Lessons are 15 minutes long so scheduling will always be on the quarter (ie. 10:00, 10:15, 10:30, 10:45)
Every child learns differently! Not all children crawl or talk at the same time. The same applies to swim lessons. Every lesson is custom-tailored to your child’s needs and experience so they have the best chance to learn the skills they need to survive in the case of a water accident!
I understand that babies and toddlers are hardwired to communicate by crying. Even the most reluctant child will develop a comfort level in the water with time. It’s important to remember this and trust me to care for your child and help with this transition. Three to six lessons is the average amount of time it takes for me to stop being a stranger and a relationship to develop. If you do have a tearful child, I recommend distancing yourself as much as possible so that your child can build a bond with the me as their instructor, be aware your attitude will set the tone for all the lessons to follow. Be patient and stay with it. Ultimately, this approach shortens the time it takes for your child to adjust to lessons.
All lessons are built on muscle memory. As your child’s bodies and muscles continue to grow, it is important to maintain the skills they have learned. If they don’t continue to practice the skills, then as they grow, everything will become unfamiliar, and their muscles won’t retain it. Maintenance lessons are essential, however frequency can vary depending on your child's age and skill level.
Your child will learn true survival swim skills to save themselves in a water accident. However, they will also learn how to swim with me!
Children can start survival swim lessons as early as 6 months old. Ideally, every child should learn survival swim skills before they begin walking. Water sources are everywhere and drowning can happen in as little as 2 inches of water. As your child is able to access water sources, they need the skills to turn their body away from the water and breathe calmly. However, we teach all ages! Any child can benefit from the skills of the swim-float-swim technique to survive a water accident.
Most children learn survival swim skills and pass the 2-minute float test between 20-24 lessons. After that, we maintain their skills and work on becoming stronger swimmers in weekly maintenance lessons!
There is a $40 registration fee per year. This fee is waived for our year-round swimmers!
